One of my best friends and long time fishing partner is headed up here this weekend to visit and I'm going to take him up to Lake Sherburne.

If we have half as much luck as I did Memorial weekend we'll be happy!!

I fish from a canoe, so I like the smaller bodies of water!!  I've never thought about joining any clubs....although if I can get some good advice I just may have to try it.

I've just been getting my Maine Gazateer out along with the internet and looking for spots near home.....that's how I found Scituate Pond.

If you like top water action you should add the Zara Spook to your arsenal. It takes anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to learn how to effectively "walk the dog" as they call the technique of using one, but once you learn how, it is second nature. One great thing about them, especially for those fishing on shore, is that you can cast them very, very far on either spinning or bait casting tackle. The fish seem to love them!

Bill, are you fishing from a boat or from shore? If you are in a boat, how big is it? Lake selection should take this into account. I'd avoid a place like Sebago if you are going to be in a small watercraft. Even an 18 foot fiberglass bassboat has proven to be a poor choice out there on occassion. I don't fish that far south, but there are lots of opportunities. Do you have plans on joining a bass club? If so, perhaps you can make a contact here. You can also check out www.mebass.com or www.tbfmaine.com. These websites belong to the two "national bass fishing federations". I know good people in both organizations from southern Maine who can give you some great advice.

Good luck!

Hi everyone!!

My name is Bill and I just moved to Kittery, ME from Cleveland, OH last month.  My wife is originally from here and it wasn't hard to talk me into coming back!!

I found your forum googling Maine bass fishing looking for some tips and "hot" lakes around my area.

I found a few just minutes from my house that have been treating me real well......Scituate Pond has been my favorite thus far!!  When I went with my 16 year old daughter Sunday we caught 5 bass, a crappie, and a pickerel in 3.5 hours time.  No monsters but plenty enough action to keep us happy!!

My favorite lake I have fished since moving here is Lake Sherburne.  It's my favorite since I caught the biggest bass of my life there.  She was 22 inches long and I'm guessing 4-5 lbs.  In Northern Ohio where I'm from the bass don't get very large.  As a matter of fact when in Ohio my buddies and I would prefer to fish for catfish or carp!!  Don't laugh cause they both give you a hell of a fight if you get a big one!!

If anyone has any other lakes they like that they wanna tell me about that they like or have been successful at I'd for sure appreciate it.

Thanks,  Bill
