Pine Tree Sportsman's Show
2009 Pine Tree Sportsman Show
The third weekend in March means Maple Syrup and the annual Pine Tree State SportsmanShow. Wilton was where hundreds of vendors displayed their wares for thousands of visitors to see. I would be hard pressed to remember all the vendors. The Benoits were there with some of their incredible videos and displays. ATVs, Boats, ice fishing, Great Lakes Fishing, the list goes a long way.
Ken’s Yamaha was there with a full line of off road and on the water transportation. Ken and his crew were a knowledgeable and likable bunch. I brought a 175 Tracker up from Dover Marine, and USA Bassin’ with a four stroke 60hp Mercury and a red and silver color scheme, it was a nice display. The number one selling boat in the US.
This is not a great show for bass fishermen, yet I did unveil a new product. I was going to make Mike wait until after the Unity Father's Day tournament. I wanted some kind of an edge, oh well. Strikezone Lures has come out with a new line of plastics. I find very few items that get me excited any more. I am excited about just fishing with this baby. I can’t wait to watch it come through the weeds. The best in their lot is a new Big Daddy Worm. They have hooked up with one of the best custom hand pourers in the business, in my opinion! The Big Daddies are 16” in length. The perfection in the colors are incredible. Black, Rhythym and Blues, Bruised Roadkill, Green Weenie, Green Watermelon Roadkill and Hybrid Bug are a few of the colors.
This is one of those baits that will be like when swimbaits first came out. The first users were trying to find that kicker fish. Now swimbaits are thrown all day long. I would think once you get to look over these baits, you will start out looking for that lunker. I know that they seem a little big, but you know what they say, about big baits. I know for a fact that one store in Texas has been shipped 400 packages of these Big Daddies. You can contact Strikezone Lures or me and I can get any info you need. The applications are endless. Swim, shake, drag, or hop. Take your pick; just remember to match your movement with the water temp. How well could you see thisbait on a bed?
I will have a couple of articles coming up about big worms and Carolina rigs...stay tuned!
